Class of 'Nuke Em High IV (2014)

Writer
with 68 other people

In 1999 a collaborative screenplay contest for Class of Nuke 'Em IV  was put on by Troma. I entered and won (they still owe me $50) a spot as a collaborator on the script. There were 40 screenwriters on this. I'm curious if this could be real? And, if so, can the scene I wrote with Lloyd Kaufman being accosted by Ghandi and Santa Claus be coming to fruition? Let's hope not.

Back Woods (2001)

Writer,
as Luther

BUY IT HERE!

After a group of rowdy teens run over his man-woman mother, a 300 lb. retarded transvestite redneck goes absolutely ripshit on basically every other character in the movie.

"How do you review a terrible movie if the point of the movie is how terrible it is? The answer, my eager young friends, is with a smile on your face,a spring in your step, and a whole thesaurus full of interesting curse words at your disposal. Simply stating the premise of this movie aloud is enough to cause an entire hospital wing full of babies to burst into flames. So what we've got here is a no-budget horror flick to end all no-budget horror flicks. It is a clear parody of the genre, and some might say it's a pretty good one, too."

Crushed Velvet (2013)

Co-Writer
as Richards

In a parallel dimension, censorship has been rescinded from all movies and television so people can do and say almost anything on TV. As a result, everyone in the country watches television day and night. It is a national addiction. Enter Dusty Velvet, whose husband has been "taken" for service in the national armed forces. The chances of him surviving are slim because wars have broken out all over Iraq & Iran and the only way to get him back is to "buy" him back from the military for $500,000. A new reality "game show" is on the air offering $1M for the contestant who can last sixty days in a solitary confinement chamber with nothing but a bed, table and toilet. A video camera watches each of the contestants 24/7 and it is the hottest show on television. Dusty Velvet is chosen as a contestant and is slowly becoming the newest "American Idol" for her antics inside the chamber. However, after a long period in darkness and isolation, things suddenly take a horrid turn for the worse in this tale from the darker side of reality.

The Cuckoo Clocks of Hell (2011)

as John Wayne Gacy

From Severed Cinema: Director Ron Atkins releases his latest and most ambitious film, The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell on DVD,  August 31, 2011. The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell follows the character of Harry Russo (Schizophreniac and Necromaniac), returning to a plauge-infested Las Vegas for a supernaturally-ordained meeting with Terry Hawkins (The Last House On Dead-End Street aka The Funhouse). Set in the near future, The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell tells a twisted story of discovery and destiny, of madness and mayhem, of cultures and corruption. The film was conceived in 2003 between Ron Atkins and the late Roger Watkins. Upon Watkin's untimely death, James VanBebber was recruited to essay the role of Hawkins and filming began in late 2007. An uncompromising and unique artist, Ron Atkins is now poised to re-write the rules of the American independent film forever with The Cuckoo Clocks Of Hell.

DOA: Extreme Horror (2011, Bloodbound Books)

Editor

"Large anthologies usually have a hard time maintaining the same quality throughout. However, when it comes to the 28 tales in Blood Bound Books’ “D.O.A. Extreme Horror Anthology,” the fast-paced prose is always there and the gore, sex and violence are almost always unrelenting and intense." - Horrorphilia

This anthology contains twenty-eight horror stories taken to an extreme you’ve never read before. Author Kenneth Yu will introduce you to a disturbing interest that two men in the Philippines share, while Edward R. Rosick reveals the true location of the soul. Readers will journey from plague-ridden ships off England’s coast to the viscous barrios of Mexico. But remember, this book is not for the easily sickened or offended. You’ve been warned.

Now Available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble and Kindle.

Book Without Pictures (2013, Neoflux Productions)

Artist
"Image 70"

Sandy and I were fortunate enough to be involved in this project. We are collectively translating Alice's Adventures in Wonderland into visual artwork. Open to artists of any style, media, or motif. Over 1000 pieces of art are being used from artists all over the globe and these pieces of art are being created to correspond with each paragraph of Carroll's masterpiece.

Sandy, my primitivist painting wife, did the mouse in acrylic and modeled for Alice. A little creative photography and compositing and there you have it. It was our first collaboration. This scene takes place as Alice and the mouse have a communication breakdown over the word knot... or is it not?

No words allowed, which explains the title page to the left. It reads: What's the Use of a Book Without Pictures? This, of course, is a line from the story. Our contribution is below!

SOV: The True Independents (2013)

as Himself

Visit www.sovhorror.com for more information.

In the early 1980's, the impact of drive-in theaters (the former haven of the independent filmmaker) was beginning to wane. However, with this slight loss, there came about a force to truly be reckoned with. This was the mighty home video market. There have been many formats for said market; some of which were Super 8mm reels, Beta tapes, and Laser disc. However, the most infamous and successful was the VHS tape. With their flashy artwork and sometimes enormous boxes, VHS tapes conquered the market and several films that tanked in theaters absolutely thrived on video. The B movies were easily the champions of this world, as the major studios had few titles released on video due to piracy fears.

However, out of this explosion of profit came a new breed of filmmaker - people with little money that would film their cinematic dreams on VHS itself - this was the shot on video filmmaker. Though the format was not initially met with much enthusiasm, these films made a definite impact due to the box art being able to fool unsuspecting video renters as to how the final product looked (a factor that is lost today even with big budget films). These artists were normal, average people you might run into on the street, burning with passion to make their films even though the budgets rarely exceeded a few thousand bucks. Initially, there were only a few mass released films shot on this format, and the only one to get a theatrical release was the original S.O.V. film - BOARDINGHOUSE. After this film came SLEDGEHAMMER and BLACK DEVIL DOLL FROM HELL.

Tales of Terror & Mayhem (2012, Evil Jester Press)

Writer
"Grindylow"

From Tracy Carbone, critic, "I was fortunate enough to be asked preview a copy of Tales Of Terror And Mayhem From Deep Within The Box, edited by Charles Day and Jessica A. Weiss. This will be released by Wicked East Press mid March and will make a formal debut at the World Horror Conference in Utah next month.

The collection of stories from writers spanning the globe was an eclectic mix of suspense, classic horror, revenge stories, and even some with a Grimm’s Fairy Tale feel. They were many good stories in this anthology but I will just touch upon my favorites.

In no particular order, I start with “Delano” by Jon Michael Emory. To me, Jack in the Boxes are scary.  But this author weaves a tale that is literary and a little sad. It has its spooky elements but first and foremost it’s a solid little story with a twist I didn’t see coming.

Jeremy C. Shipp’s “Balloon Boy,” “Grindylow,” by David C. Hayes, and “The Gift,” by Charles Day & The Evil Little Jester (edited by Hollie Snider), all send us supernatural (and sometimes wickedly evil) beings to take care of the villains plaguing the underdogs who sorely need help. Shipp’s evil clown friend, and Day’s Jack in the Box Jester manage to be thoroughly creepy but still will win the hearts of readers. Who says the good guy can’t be a demented clown or jester? Grindylow’s monster that was formed from tears was a beautifully symbolic creation to punish a neglectful parent."
